Experiencing life at Tamaki Collage

Today the year 8's were invited for a day at Tamaki Collage to experience and see what collage is all about and what its like. We had morning tea and then we went to our first session which was Math. In Math we learned how to use and locate coordinates we even made a alien mask using coordinates. I had fun making alien masks. Our second session was science and we did some experiments using dry ice and water. The first experiment we did was putting dry ice in a glove and then we tied the glove and then left it aside it kept on getting bigger as we did the other experiments. The next experiment was putting dry ice inside a cup that was sealed at the top and a little hole at the bottom. we then turned the cup upside down and added in dry ice and water then we tapped it at the sealed part which caused it to make smoke rings we had a candle which we had to get the smoke ring in. The third experiment was making rockets. This was a compaction we had to see which rockets goes the highest. We had a container and anther small bottle it was the size of a pill bottle. We put the dry ice inside the small bottle and then added some water in we quickly closed the lid and put it inside the container about 3 to 5 seconds later is explodes. My group won because our rocket was the highest. For our last experiment we had a container and the had lots of ice and water in it then we socked clothes it water and gently placed it on top of the container and puled it over which caused it to make big bubbles. I had a lot of fun at Tamaki Collage today. Thank you to all the teachers that taught us. I am looking forward to collage next year.
