Persuasive Speeches

                                                         How domestic violence ruins life

Hi my name is Nidhi and for a 12 year old like me it is important that children grow up in a safe and secure environment. We are all aware that domestic violence ruins a family and has a negative impact on children. Violence is a cycle, children who are brought up in an abusive family usually imitate their parents which leads them to be either a victim of violence or the abuser themselves.
Not only does domestic violence break a family, it also impacts the society.

Of those poor people who have experienced violence more than 50% of them have children in their care. Children should not see violence and be affected by it. Studies show that children that go through physical and emotional violence are affected in many ways. They go through emotional distress, eating and sleeping disturbances, have difficulty concentrating and find it difficult to trust others. Children need to grow up in a safe and secure environment. A household where domestic violence exists is not a safe environment for anyone to live in, let alone children.

Research has shown that there are many ways a family is being affected by domestic violence. The threat of violence at home creates fear and can destroy a family. It leads to break-up of families and creates regular household conflicts. Police and child protection often get involved in serious cases.

Where domestic violence exists is not a safe environment to live in. Can you imagine living in a house where you see physical or emotional abuse daily? Shockingly , many people do and sadly children younger than you and me and of all ages are involved. Seeing domestic violence everyday has a negative impact on the health of victims and family members some of the health problems are low self esteem, Depression and Stress disorder.

No one should ever have to be a part of domestic violence. If you or anyone you know may be living in a family that has conflict everyday, it is never too late to ask for help or to help them. We have listened and we have learned it's not too late to make a change. Remember domestic violence is never okay!

Last week LS2 wrote Persuasive Speeches and our Learning Intention was to write a speech that persuades other to think the way you do. While we were saying the speech we had to make sure that we made eye contact with an audience, Use expression, Hook readers in with persuasive language features and be loud and clear. The whole class showed and spoke with confidence and same spoke in front of small groups. The tittle of my speech was How Domestic Violence Ruins Life. The feedback my friends gave me were very encouraging they said I was loud and clear, I had hooked them in and that I was very confidence but they also told me that next time i should try and do more Expression .
